If Mueller’s evidence of subordination of perjury is sufficient, then it is a clear cut felony and ample justification for Trump’s impeachment. Specifically, Trump ordered Cohen to say that his plan to build a tower in Moscow had ended at the beginning of 2016. Trump’s Moscow deal did not stop until the summer of 2016.
And this charge may be related to the broader allegations of collusion with Russia. Because Trump was publicly claiming the tower deal had ended when it hadn’t, those claims may have provided Putin [additional] compromising material with which to blackmail Trump.
The most significant fallout from this allegation is that House Democrats may not be able to postpone impeaching Trump until after they have Mueller’s report. Congressional action is even more critical because Attorney General nominee, William Barr, has made it clear, if confirmed, he will not indict the President.
