More people believe a convicted liar, Michael Cohen, than President of the United States, Donald Trump (50 to 35 percent), according to a Quinnipiac poll of 1120 Democratic and Republican voters. They also said Trump lacks good leadership skills (58 to 39 percent); is not honest (65 to 30 percent); committed crimes before becoming President (64 to 24 percent); and committed crimes while he has been President (45 to 43 percent). Despite thinking that Trump lacked integrity, these voters did not think Congress should begin the process to impeach Trump (59 to 35 percent).
While Republicans were more positive toward Trump and Democrats more negative, the trends over the past year tell a familiar story. As more has become known about Trump, there has been little change in how voters see Trump. The persistence of Trump’s support raises the question of whether anything his supporters discover about him can shake their belief in him. I think any events that can shake them would have to intense and rather long-lasting.
