Since his meeting with Kim Jong-un, Trump has claimed that North Korea agreed to “de-nuclearization” and was on the path to a “lasting peace” with the U.S. The intelligence community denied that North Korea was dismantling any part of its nuclear infrastructure and believed its survival depended on keeping its nuclear weapons.
Trump continues to be skeptical about Russia’s attack on the 2016 election. He also refuses to recognize the danger posed by Russia. The intelligence community again noted Russia’s attack on the 2016 and 2018 elections and intent to attack the 2020 election. Despite Trump’s claim of friendship with China’s Xi Jinping, the intelligence community testified that China was a persistent cyber threat to our military and national infrastructure. Also, the allegiance between Russia and China was stronger than it had been in the last 30 years.
To withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Agreement, Trump claimed that Iran was cheating. The intelligence community said Iran was still abiding by the agreement, although it was supporting terrorism in Europe and the Middle East.
Trump has claimed that ISIS has been defeated and thus the U.S. is able to withdraw from Syria, increasing Russia power in Syria. The intelligence community testified that ISIS was not upset and was in fact growing.

Intelligence professionals have deemed these individuals security risks who should not be trusted with the nation’s secrets.
